At another property, the damaged board and any continuing water-entry problem both need assessment. A finished eaves surface does not by itself confirm that the roof above is watertight.
What we did
The lining beneath this section of roof edge was damaged. The before photos show the affected area before the replacement work.
We removed the damaged section and checked inside. A new board was cut to the actual size of the opening and fixed in place.
The joints and surface were finished, then the repaired area was repainted to blend with the surrounding eaves. The after photos show the finished section.
If an eaves board is starting to soften, bend or break, it is worth having it checked early. The damaged board and any continuing water problem both need attention. Painting over it alone will not repair the board.
